Our History

Sompo Insurance was established on March 30, 2001 under the title Finans Sigorta in spite of the economic crisis and strong competitors in that period. With its unique management approach and strong employee profile available at that time, our company had distinguished itself from its competitors and issued its first policy in 2002. Subsequently, the Company continued its development and realized its first full activity in 2004. In 2006, the company achieved the best return on equity in the insurance sector. After the sale of QNB Finansbank's shares to NBG Group on November 1, 2007, it took its founder Fiba Holding's name continued its operations as Fiba Sigorta A.S. Our company, which continued its operations as Fiba Sigorta, not only retained its title of being the company achieving the best return on equity until 2010, but also became the only insurance company that had recorded profit for 10 years.

With its steady growth and success, our company attracted the attention of Sompo Insurance, the largest insurance group in, the second largest market in the world, and in 2010 Fiba Sigorta's shares were transferred to Sompo Insurance Inc. Following the completion of legal procedures, the title of our company was changed to Sompo Sigorta on 28.02.2011. Our company has continued its rising success upon taking the name of Sompo Sigorta and has achieved worldwide success by being selected as the group's center of excellence in auto insurance among the companies of Sompo group. While Sompo Sigorta, rising its success in Turkey, captured the 7TH position in total premium generation in the first two quarters of 2018, it holds 5.3% market share in insurance sector in general.
